Ok, after that introduction, today we will talk about the “new revolver.”  The Ambassador.

The ambassador has its ups and its downs. It has the same ammo count, as the normal revolver, and it shoots at a 15-20% slower than the default revolver. This is becuase it has a short “cooldown” time, which in my opinion is unnoticeable. A good thing about the ambassador is that it has the accuracy of a sniper rifle on every shot. However during “cooldown” periods, the weapon can fire, but will not be as accurate. “Aim” is very important if you want to use the ambassador.Headshots are instant crits. So get playing Counter Strike Source.

Bonjourno, Divingsheep  here, giving my thoughts on the ambassador.

I’d like to start this by saying that i am not “good” at FPSes, I regularly find myself at the top of the leaderboard but not because of my amazing aim or skills as an FPS player. Most of my wins usually come down to the tactical prowess i have from playing RTSes all my life, from the original age of empires to the recently free to play Battleforge. In other words, if an enemy and I meet on equal footing I usually lose. Now that long winded explanation of my own supreme mediocracy is over, I shall talk about the ambassador. It sorta requires amazing aim and skills. This is, however, the same problem i have with the regular revolver. The requirement to aim is not the main problem I have with the ambasssador, the problem i have with it is that it doesn’t seem suited to the spy’s regular playstyle. Attacking from afar is a style already covered by the sniper. The one advantage I did see was that you could run backwards while shooting and headshot any chasing enemy which is helpful when trying to take an enemy down with you.

Overall, I think that it is worth a swap from the normal revolver but you will you find yourself not using it about as much as you usually wouldn’t.

Now lets move on to why I like it so much. I, having played 23 hours of spy, unlike DivingSheep over there, with round about 9.5 hours of spy, I think I have a slightly better view on the new spy unlocks. The dead ringer is good, but it is too situational. By this, I mean being burned by a pyro and fake dying is fun, but if your killer burns for a few seconds longer you’re toast.

Example:

A couple of days ago, I was on www.saigns.de//GRAVELPIT ONLY, and was being pyro. I killed numerous spies around this engie’s sentry. However, with the server’s instant respawn, they could easily come back, so I ended up camping around this guy’s sentry. I saw that when I killed one spy the name came up in the corner, however 2 seconds later I saw a burning spy run away behind a rock. Being the normal pyro I am, I chased this burning figure, and killed him. It turned out to be the same spy I had just killed, I was perplexed. It was not until a few seconds later that I realised that he had The Dead Ringer. When he came back, I decided to continue burning evn after his burnt corpse had hit the ground, sure enough, he was burnt again and killed just seconds after the his feigned death.

There are good things about the Dead Ringer, but I think the Cloak and Dagger excels in many more areas. For example, it makes spycapping much easier, especially on attack/defence maps like Gravel Pit and Dustbowl. You can just stand in the corner, waiting for your team to capture A or B, and then, Bam, unleash a can of spycap on their sorry faces. It also makes some situations where you normally would be doomed escapable. E.g. Iwas playing as a spy on Gravel Pit, point c, and was standing in the corner, I saw a pyro flaming everywhere right in front of me but, instead of freaking out, I stood still in the corner – with my permanent cloak- and let his flames miss, he didn’t know i was there and would probably leave seconds later. I was then safe to cap the point later on. This has happened to me countless times, and probably more times in the future.

Now lets review:

Cloak and Dagger:

Pro: Allows an almost constant cloak

Con: Doesn’t allow easy escapes due to fast drain rate, especially while falling.

Pro: Can escape very narrow situations by just standing still

Con:Can’t pick up ammo boxes or weapons to regenerate your cloak.

The Dead ringer:

Pro: Great against non-pyro classes

Con: Pyro’s can kill you very easily after you have been fake killed

Pro: Fills you with a warmth that can only be gained through trickery

Con: Unable to cloak other than straight after death

Well i don’t know about you, but i’ve been loving the recent spy update (and sniper update). Mainly because my main class is pyro, and there’s nothing I like more than a load of easy burnanation targets.
The other reason I’m loving this update is the new watch unlock for the spy. The Dead ringer. Being a spy is about tricking people and the dead ringer allows so much trickery and tomfoolery. Being “killed” by a pyro and then coming back 5 seconds later and backstabbing them makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. However, one problem is, of course that you lose the ability to cloak normally-despite popular belief- but who ever used that anyway??? The other main advantage to this dual update, is that all the snipers are being backstabbed all the time and the spies are so preoccupied getting burnt to a crisp by my flamethrower, not backburner. So neither of the updated classes really cause me any problems. Unless they speak in third person, then we have a problem.

Well thank you DivingSheep for that review of the recent update, along with your WRONG opinion about the worst unlock. I myself having Spy as my 1st played class, and NOT my third least played class would like to tell you about the Cloak N Dagger!!!!

While reading ubercharged the other day, I noticed right at the bottom of the page, was this so-called PippiN. I was sceptical at first, at whether his skills were like those of famous spies e.g. Jening. However, while watching some of his “Phase X” videos, I could not stop staring at his uber l33t skills. His gymnastic spy, could bait engies, then backstab them, he could take down multiple sentries without losing health, he could even DETER the mighty pyros. After watching those videos, I was so awe strucken, I decided to make my first post about him. Thank you PippiN, and I hope you will not mind me using your videos, to show how amazing you are. And a small thanks to ubercharged.net aswell.
